Creation Myth

Xerox PARC was a very company that had the potential to do a lot of revolutionary things. However they squandered their opportunities and Steve Jobs profited at the expense of the companies incompetence. Malcolm Gladwell has written the essay Creation Myth. He also has written famous book such as Outliers and What the Dog Saw. The essay Creation Myth is about how Xerox PARC could have been a super power in the technology world and how Steve jobs did not steal the idea of the personal computer, he merely evolved the idea. The author wrote this essay for the masses so they could understand that Steve Jobs was the bad person who stole the idea of the personal computer from Xerox PARC. Malcolm Gladwell uses the timeline of the tracking missiles to explain how Steve jobs did not steal the idea of the personal computer. The Russians first had the idea of the missile, then the Americans built them in case of emergencies and the Israelis had to use them and fine tune them when they were attacked by Egypt. He says that a professor had printed an essay about the personal computer, Xerox PARC created one for the company and for the technological savvy people, and finally Apple created one that would work for everyone and for everyday uses. The author explains that there is no stealing of an idea there is only an evolution of that idea. This happened with the mouse when it was being created, and also the creator of the laser jet wanted to be apart of the advancing world of technology and left Xerox PARC for Apple. I believe that the author was able to coherently explain his point about the evolution of ideas. Whether it is missiles or computer mice the theory stays the same.
